| Like many people, Dan learned bridge from his family, and practiced heavily during college. Always interested in languages, he found bidding systems fascinating, starting with his Goren Bridge Complete tome.
Dan won the second OKbridge college championships in 1998 playing for the University of Kentucky. He competed in the Junior Team Trials in 1998, and in the World Junior Pairs in 2001, finishing above 50% with a totally new partner from another country. In 2001 in Toronto he finished 4th in the Red Ribbon Pairs.
In the 2002 World Bridge Teams Championships in Montreal (Rosenblum Cup) he finished just out of the qualifying with a new partnership, but not before beating out the Italian Junior champions and some former French world champions along the way. In 2010 and 2011 Dan managed to get to the national semifinals of the GNT-A competition. The second time, the final match was much closer :-) Dan has accumulated several sectional and regional wins in pairs and teams events. Despite all this success, he has only 1700 masterpoints, which makes him ideal for winning silver, red, and gold points for Flight B in stratiflighted events. Dan's interest in bridge systems has resulted in translating quite a few texts from Italian, German, and Polish, and a book of his translation of the WJ 2005 Polish Club can be obtained from Baron Barclay Bridge Supplies. He currently resides in the heart of the bluegrass, Lexington, Kentucky and works in the IT field. Dan's other main hobby is running races including one marathon a year. Check out Dan on Facebook. |
